Escape Academy 2: Back 2 School — Clown Puzzle Help
Solve Escape Academy 2: Back 2 School's Send in the Clues task with the balloon-part order, color-chart reasoning and correct SMILE word-lock answer.
Quick answer
Enter SMILE to open the Jack-In-The-Box in Send in the Clues, the Quad clown task. Read the balloon animal in this order: tail, right ear, left front leg, body, right front leg. Use the color-letter chart to interpret those parts; SLIME is not the successful English answer.

Find Send in the Clues
The clown puzzle is Send in the Clues in the Quad, with the objective of opening the Jack-In-The-Box. The recording at 16:06–16:36 shows the balloon animal, color-letter charts and completed journal objective. The launch recording around 1:36:26 also identifies the box-opening task.
If you recognize the Clown Club table and balloon animal, follow the sequence below. For another campus obstacle, return to the campaign navigation page rather than applying SMILE to an unrelated lock.
Read the balloon animal in clue order
- Inspect the tail's color.
- Inspect the right ear's color.
- Inspect the left front leg's color.
- Inspect the body's color.
- Inspect the right front leg's color.
- Compare those colors with the accompanying letter chart.
The body-part order is visible in the recorded clue list. GameSpew independently explains using the parts' colors with the chart to obtain the word.
Enter SMILE, not SLIME
The English word-lock answer is SMILE. Enter it on the Jack-In-The-Box lock to complete the opening objective. GameSpew documents the answer, and the launch recording at 1:37:20–1:37:39 shows SLIME failing before SMILE leads to success dialogue.
The chart can permit multiple letters for the same color. The recorded players consider several candidates, so a plausible-looking word is not enough. Preserve the clue's body-part order rather than assuming every color has one universal letter. Recorded chart discussion.
Separate lock mistakes from dialogue issues
The developer reports a separate dialogue fault in which Izzy Dizzy spoke some of Cod Stewart's lines. The notes list it as fixed in v1.0.20261105.001. If the clown is giving fisherman dialogue, compare your installed version with that reported fix. Official hotfix notes.
That patch statement does not establish the cause of every conversation problem. It also does not change the documented English lock answer: SMILE succeeds in the launch recording, matching the written solution.
Clown puzzle questions
Why did SLIME fail when its letters seemed plausible?
The chart's color choices can leave more than one letter candidate. The recorded attempt rejects SLIME and succeeds with SMILE. Use the recorded comparison rather than interpreting that failed word as evidence of a bug.
Do I read the animal from left to right?
Follow the body-part list: tail → right ear → left front leg → body → right front leg. This supplies the clue's reading order instead of the animal's screen position. Visible clue list.
Does the reported hotfix prove my dialogue problem is repaired?
No individual installation was tested here. The developer's notes identify a specific wrong-dialogue fault and version, not a verified result for every player's save. Official patch statement.
Scope
This covers the source-backed English Send in the Clues solution and an attributed developer patch statement. Localized word-lock answers and the patch's effect on an individual save have not been verified.
